Secret Garden Tri Fold Shutter Card Tutorial

We made this card at my April Club Workshops. I would like to thank Kimberley Morris of the Procrastistamper Blog for inspiring me to make this card. I’m not sure who originated this fold, but I used Kimberley’s card as the starting point for mine. This fancy fold may look complicated to make, but it’s actually quite easy. It’s also a great way to use up those small scraps of designer series paper you may have leftover.

Tri-fold Shutter Card Tutorial

Step One

1. Start with a piece of card stock 10-½” x 5-½”. On the long side, score at 1- ¾”, 3-½”, 7” and 8-¾”.

Step Two

2. With the short end of your card stock lined up with the top of your cutter, line up the left edge of your card stock at the 1-½” mark. Start cutting 1-¾” from the top just until you reach the 8-¾” mark (see red arrow). In other words, you will be cutting from the outermost score line to the other outermost score line on the other side. Turn your card stock 180 Degrees and do the same for the other side. The yellow line shows where the card stock was cut before it was rotated.

Step Three

3. Fold your card along the score lines using a zigzag pattern. The middle will be folded in opposite zigzags from the top and the bottom.

Step Four

4. Cut pieces of designer paper and card stock and adhere them according to the photo above (measurements shown from left to right)

  • Two 1-½” x 5-¼” Lucky Limeade DSP
  • Two 1-½” x 1-¼” Lucky Limeade DSP
  • Two 3-¼” x 1-¼” Wisteria Wonder DSP
  • Two 1-½” x 1-¼” Calypso Coral DSP
  • Two 2-½” x 2-¼” Elegant Eggplant CS
  • One 3-¼” x 2-¼” Calypso Coral CS
    Step Five

    5. Finish the card as desired. I used the Feel Goods Stamp Set, the Secret Garden Stamp Set and Framelits and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to finish mine off.
