Coach Gifts

My son's cross country season ended yesterday with the our last meet. He had a personal best and shaved almost 30 seconds off his previous best time. Hooray! His coaches were awesome and we wanted to give them a little gift to say thank you.

I thought it would be fun to come up with a shape card to conceal a gift card in. I discarded my original running shoe idea, because of time limitations and came up with a running singlet design instead. The card fits inside a note card-sized envelope (A1). I printed and cut out the school's logo to put on the front. This shape card could also work for other sports like basketball.

Here are the quick instructions.

  1. Start with a piece of card stock 10" x 3.5".
  2. On the long side, score at the 5" mark.
  3. With the card base folded, use large oval punch to make the arm holes. You will have to angle the oval until you get the correct curve.
  4. Use the wide oval punch to make the neck hole. I punched from the side using about half of the oval. Tip: Make sure you punch the arm holes first, otherwise the wide oval punch won't reach far enough in.
