Thursday Tip: Cheap Alphabet

Have you ever wanted the perfect-sized alphabet for your cards, but the prices of the regular alphabets have scared you off? Well, then this tip is for you. The Alpha Builder Wheel is priced at just $4.50 US. If you unmount the rubber from the wheel and attach it to some Cling Foam, you have yourself a cheap and perfect-sized alphabet for your cards. You could also do the same thing for the Number Builder Wheel.

I can’t take the credit for this tip. My former upline came up with this idea when the new catalog came out. She graciously allowed me to use her tip for my blog post. It gets even better though, Valli just signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstator again in my downline. She is now my upline/downline. LOL! I made her this fun card with my newly unmounted alphabet to welcome her back to Stampin’ Up! Thanks for letting me use your tip Valli, and “welcome back!”

When you're cutting apart the alphabet, you'll notice that some of the letters are close together. If you bend the rubber back while cutting it, you should be able to cut it apart without too much difficulty.

I'm storing my new alphabet in a Clear Mount Stamp Case. I made the insert for my stamp case using My Digital Studio.

    1. Oh, my - Must try! This is one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. Thanks for sharing your upline/downline's tip!

    2. Thanks for the Welcome Back card (in my new favorite suite)! I'm thrilled to be in your blog, Brenda! You are a great downline/upline!

    3. Fabulous idea Brenda, the alpha sets can get really pricey and then poof they are this!

    4. Fabulous idea!! Love your MDS label, too!

    5. Great tip! I already mount my wheels on cling foam but never thought of cutting apart the alphabet. Gotta try it! Thanks for sharing :)

    6. Brilliant idea! I also like the idea of rolling out the wheel and then cutting the stamped image letters apart for a cut and paste set of letters like mysteries always feature in blackmail or ransom or other notes.

    7. Well like duh, why didn't I think of that! TFS! Always great ideas from you.
